CENSURED IN CANADA is a space for Canadian-based artists & films marginalized and rejected by Canadian festivals and institutions – whether it was due to a lack of the “right” credentials / connections; or the work challenges aesthetic / cultural / social norms.
We premiered 21 films across diverse genres and styles for our inaugural 2015 festival, and look forward to continuing to showcase new work at the 2017 festival. Based on submissions, the theme of the 2017 festival has shaped up to be FORM AND ITS DISCONTENTS. The films on Sat May 27 (FORM) experiment with genre or play with conventions, while the films on Sun May 28 (DISCONTENTS) explore stories and people outside of mainstream society.
Note: The red timestamp next to some of the films in the next column indicates the approximate time that screening block will start.
